Detoxing Before a Drug Test

Employee drug screenings are a common occurrence. Most employers will require a job applicant to complete a drug test once an offer for employment has been made. In addition, employers are required to perform a drug test if there has been an on-the-job accident that resulted in personal injuries and/or property damage.

The best way to pass a drug test is to be prepared for it. All companies have a drug screening policy you should review, as this will indicate the frequency of testing and the type of testing method, including whether the employee is given any notification.

For job candidates, it is best to discontinue drug usage while looking for a job until after completing the drug test. If you are on probation or parole, it is best to refrain from drug usage, as your tests are mandatory and can be conducted often without any prior notice.

There are four different testing methods:

  • Urine
  • Salvia
  • Hair Follicle
  • Blood

The length of time drugs remain detectable does depend on the testing method used. The most accurate and most costly is a blood test. As such, many employers no longer use this method. With the other three testing methods, ClearTest provides various products you can use to detox your body and remove traces of the drugs from your system.
